Long ago, when the now-ruined portals scattered throughout the world were still active, a dormant virus from the Crimson Forests of the Nether escaped to the Overworld. In the cooler environment, it formed a powerful symbiotic relationship with the vanilla zombie virus, which it now depends on for survival. Access to water allowed the virus not just to exist, but to thrive and rapidly evolve into horrors beyond imagination...

Key Features

Five days after starting a world, a Bloodlink appears - a mob capable of infecting the surrounding area and officially starting the infection. As long as you don't approach its claimed territory, the infection has little effect on gameplay, but one Bloodlink soon becomes two, then three, then ten, and before you know it, the simple Crimson Invaders in the distance are evolving and breaking down your base walls.

If you don't destroy Bloodlinks while they're few in number, the infection can become nearly unstoppable with vanilla gear. Killing new mobs provides access to materials for crafting more powerful equipment. To survive, you need to thoroughly understand basic Minecraft mechanics (including block hardness) and be prepared for instant death. Monitor your armor durability, build bases in smart locations using strong materials, remember that Crimson Invaders are immune to fire damage but vulnerable to the Smite enchantment.

Compatibility Requirements

  • For versions 1.3+, Entity Model Features and Entity Texture Features mods are REQUIRED, otherwise many elements won't display correctly
  • When opening a world with this datapack/mod, a warning may appear - simply click "I know what I'm doing!"
  • The project is currently not compatible with most mods that add custom blocks
  • Using gravestone and veinminer mods/datapacks is recommended to reduce time spent on repetitive tasks
  • IF USING THE DATAPACK, YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THE RESOURCE PACK

Game Systems

Phases and Points

  • Phase: Determines the infection's power and events. There are 5 phases total with various events
  • Points: Control the current infection phase. Awarded when mass threshold is reached
  • Mass: Temporary scoring system that increases from infecting blocks and mobs

Main Mobs

Bloodlink - The root enemy of the infection. Appears after 5 days in a random location and infects the area around it. Has 3 development stages with different capabilities.

Distributor - A stationary but extremely intelligent enemy with a vast array of abilities. Appears from phase 3+.

Mod Content

Infected and Decayed Mobs

  • Human: Strong melee combatant
  • Skeleton: Shoots poisonous projectiles
  • Husk: Fast combatant capable of climbing blocks
  • Villager: Strong melee combatant
  • Drowned: Incredibly fast swimmer

Weapons and Equipment

The modification adds numerous unique items:

  • Claw dagger with increasing attack speed
  • Scale armor with stat boosts
  • Unique enchantments
  • Purified weapons with special abilities

Craftable Items

  • Crimson Survival Guide: Contains all crafting recipes
  • Infection Gauge: Shows current phase, points, and infection mass
  • Crimson Repeller: Block that prevents area infection

Creative Mode Commands

Spawn eggs and item acquisition commands are available:

  • /function cc_loot:crimson_survival_guide - gives survival guide
  • /function cc_loot:enchantments - chest with all enchantments
  • /function cc_loot:everything - all modification items

Game Commands

  • /function cc_cmd:begin_infection - forcibly starts infection
  • /function cc_cmd:set_mass {Mass:x} - sets infection mass
  • /function cc_cmd:get_infection_data - shows current infection status

Configuration Settings

  • /function cc_config:max_infection_speed {Cap:x} - limits infection spread speed
  • /function cc_config:max_infection_radius {Radius:x} - sets maximum infection radius
  • /function cc_config:max_drills {Cap:x} - limits number of drills

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't crafting recipes show in JEI/REI? This issue is related to the mod being a datapack. For now, use the Crimson Survival Guide to view recipes.

Why do mobs display incorrectly? Since this is a datapack, it uses standard mobs with altered behavior. Other mods that give items to zombies or husks may disrupt this mod's models.
