Darkness

This mod turns nighttime into the most challenging part of Minecraft. When the light level drops below 8, your character starts taking damage, forcing you to seriously prepare for the onset of darkness.

Mod Features

The mod adds 5 new items to the game that will help you survive in conditions of increased danger:

GlowBlock - an alternative to glowstone, providing reliable area lighting.

GlockStick - a portable light source that you can take with you on dangerous journeys.

Wide Sword - a more affordable version of the diamond sword with good combat characteristics.

Diamond/Iron Light helmet - special diamond and iron helmets that not only protect your head but also emit light like a glow stick.
