Disable Player Reporting

This mod completely disables the new player reporting feature in Minecraft once and for all!

Why is this mod needed?

Many existing mods that claim to "disable" the reporting system contain additional unnecessary game modifications. At best, these extra changes can interfere with chatting on Minecraft servers, and at worst — completely block the ability to play on secure servers.

This mod performs one simple task: it disables the player reporting feature on your client. You can still play and chat on any multiplayer servers as usual, and unlike some previous "no reports" mods, this one doesn't allow other players to falsely report you!

I can play on secure servers too!? What's the catch? Minecraft 1.19.1 introduced a chat message signing system where your copy of the game generates a digital signature when sending a chat message. If someone notices offensive behavior in the game, they can file a complaint, and Mojang can use the signature to prove that these chat messages were not forged. If someone uses a mod to create a false complaint about you, any fake messages in their report won't have the correct signatures to prove that you or anyone else actually sent those messages, so Mojang won't consider them valid and won't ban you for that reason alone. The only way to get banned in this system is either by having your account stolen (in which case you can contact Mojang support), or by simply being an unpleasant person and saying offensive things in a public chat where someone unfamiliar might complain about you. You can just... not do that. It's a block game for children. The decision is yours. Despite the practically zero risk of false complaints, many "no chat reports" mods appeared after this release, claiming to "protect" you from false complaints to Mojang. However, these mods actually don't prevent anything and don't protect you. They simply remove secure signatures from chat messages and may also remove protected parts of your profile when logging into servers. This will simply lead to you being unable to chat or even play on servers that require secure profiles. Some of these mods in the past also made it easier for malicious actors to falsely report you, although Mojang will still see that these complaints are invalid, so it's not a problem. This mod simply prevents the ability to report other players. It doesn't interfere with signatures at all and therefore won't prevent you from playing on secure servers. To repeat, player reports exist to allow Mojang to combat deeply offensive behavior in multiplayer. Chat signatures exist to allow Mojang to verify these complaints. The reporting system doesn't allow Mojang to spy on players or eavesdrop on private conversations. If you desperately want to say offensive things publicly in a block game for children — that's your choice.

Usage

Client

Simply install Fabric Loader 0.15.11 or higher on Minecraft 1.21+, then place this mod in your mods/ folder. Next time you launch the game and join a server, check the pause menu — you'll see that reporting other players is no longer possible!

Server

The player reporting system is a client-side feature. The Minecraft server doesn't have the ability to report players or chat messages to Mojang. As a result, this mod is not supported on the server.
