Discernment Mod
This mod will help you avoid accidentally killing pets and other peaceful creatures in Minecraft. It adds a special enchantment and recognition effect that protect certain types of living entities from damage.
How Protection Works
Protection activates when the attacking entity:
- Has the discernment effect
- Or is using an item with the discernment enchantment (in any hand or as armor)
In this case, the attacker must NOT be sneaking (not pressing Shift).
Which Creatures Are Protected
The mod prevents damage to the following types of entities:
- Entities without a custom name matching the blacklist (default - names containing the word "unprotected")
- Entities with a custom name from the whitelist (default - names containing the word "protected")
- Tamed entities belonging to the owner with the discernment effect
- Peaceful non-player entities
- Players
Configuration
All parameters can be changed in configuration files:
- Particle type and count
- Sounds and their parameters (volume, pitch)
- Any categories of protected entities can be disabled
