Diving Bell for TFC - Underwater Exploration Enhancement
This addon for Terrafirmacraft introduces a range of completely new items to aid in underwater exploration while maintaining the authentic atmosphere of the core modification.
All players familiar with recent versions of Terrafirmacraft know that searching for metals in the early game stages boils down to two main strategies:
- Searching for rare ore samples on the surface with the hope of collecting enough to craft a pickaxe, saw or chisel
- Exploring riverbeds for ore deposits, which are much more common but require constant diving and surfacing for air
To make the second approach more advantageous and convenient, I developed a modification allowing players to stay underwater significantly longer.
The first available tool for underwater breathing is the ceramic blowpipe (used in TFC for glassblowing). Created through firing after knapping in a pit kiln. Although this item comes from the base modification, our addon gives it a new function: when held in the off-hand during immersion in water up to 2 blocks deep, the player can breathe air from the surface.
All other items are crafted from brass or higher quality metals, with helmets requiring the TFC glass lens for completion.
The snorkel comes in brass, rose gold, or sterling silver variants, allowing breathing at depths up to 3 blocks without needing to use hands - equipped in the helmet slot.
The brass diving helmet requires more complex production but unlocks two additional underwater breathing technologies:
- When wearing the helmet and holding a leather hose (made through leather processing) in the off-hand, diving depth is limited only by the length of stacked hoses (up to 16/32 blocks). The hose automatically seeks the nearest air source, enabling exploration of even underwater caves - just ensure access to an air pocket.
- When wearing the helmet with an air tank in the off-hand, the player gets from 1 minute (brass tanks) to 10 minutes (blue/red steel) of autonomous breathing. To refill air supply, use the tank on bellows (main hand/quick access panel).
