Protection from Darkness in Your Hands

This mod offers an innovative way to protect yourself from surrounding darkness - simply hold a glowing object in your hand. Instead of traditional dynamic light sources, it uses an elegant system of effects.

How It Works

The system is based on special tags assigned to items:

Basic Light Sources: Items with the edl:safe tag activate the "Veiled" effect when held in hand, protecting you from darkness. However, this effect disappears when in water. By default, this category includes: Torch, Soul Torch, Lava Bucket.

Waterproof Sources: Items with the edl:water_safe tag provide protection even underwater. This is the perfect solution for underwater exploration. Standard items in this group: Lantern, Soul Lantern, Glowstone Block, Sea Lantern, End Rod, Beacon.

Extensibility

You can easily add your own items to both categories through the datapack system, making the mod fully customizable to your needs.

Important: This mod requires Engulfing Darkness to be installed.
