Extended Comparators
This modification expands the capabilities of standard Minecraft comparators by introducing new full-size blocks. These devices preserve the core functionality of vanilla counterparts but offer significantly more flexible usage options.
Main Features
The new comparator blocks can be installed both horizontally and vertically. Each block features one main input side (marked in blue), four secondary sides for signal reception, and one output side (red).
Particularly interesting is the weakened comparator version that can detect weak redstone signals from lateral sides. Depending on surrounding blocks, this makes the operation of side inputs more predictable and consistent with the main rear input. For instance, such a comparator can receive signals from adjacent levers. However, in horizontal orientation, the device might also respond to its own output signal if redstone dust is present in that area – therefore, for stable operation, it's recommended to connect the output directly to other devices (repeaters, lamps, pistons, or other comparators) without using redstone dust.
Control Tools
The mod includes a special redstone key that allows direct reading of signals from redstone dust and applying them to comparator blocks. This tool acts as a fifth additional input, significantly simplifying the creation of complex circuits requiring constant signals of specific strength. To switch between read, write, and erase modes, use the Shift+RMB combination, and use regular RMB to interact with blocks for corresponding operations.
Development Perspective
Future updates will add various textures for comparators based on internal and output signal levels. Unique graphics for weakened comparator versions will also be developed, along with the ability to disable individual side inputs using the redstone key.
Technical Aspects
To implement additional logic, the mod uses mixin technology that activates whenever any comparator updates in the world. This may create certain performance load. If you encounter issues with the mod's operation or errors in its functioning, please report them.
