FerriteCore ((Neo)Forge)
This page is for the Forge version. If you need the Fabric version, you can find it via the appropriate link.
This mod significantly reduces Minecraft's memory usage through several different methods. A detailed technical description of the implemented changes is available in the corresponding section.
Memory savings depend on the specific modpack. For example, in version 1.2.0 of the Direwolf20 pack for Minecraft 1.16.4, memory usage (after garbage collection) on the title screen is reduced from approximately 3.1 GB to 1.1-1.2 GB.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this mod be ported to Minecraft versions before 1.16?
No, I don't plan to do a backport. I don't consider it worthwhile and recommend using more modern versions of the game.
Should this mod be installed on the server or only on the client?
Some optimizations work only on the client side, but there are also highly effective improvements that are important for the server as well. Therefore, it's recommended to install the mod on both sides.
This is the Forge page, why are there Fabric builds here?
These builds were released before creating a separate page for Fabric. They should be ignored unless you're specifically looking for old versions of FerriteCore for Fabric.
