Friendly Fire - Protection for Pets from Accidental Damage
Friendly Fire mod is designed to keep your pets and other vulnerable mobs safe from accidental attacks. No more worrying about your loyal companion jumping into the line of fire during battle or you pressing the wrong button while trying to feed them.
The Problem This Mod Solves
Many players encounter situations where their pets take damage by mistake. This often happens in combat when an animal tries to help and ends up in the line of fire. Some players accidentally attack their pets instead of interacting with them. Because of such situations, many prefer to leave pets at home rather than take them on adventures. This mod solves this problem without making pets invulnerable or too powerful.
How Protection Works
After installing the mod, pets become immune to attacks from their owner. They are also protected from damage caused by other pets belonging to the same owner. Baby animals receive complete protection from any damage sources. If you still need to eliminate a protected mob, simply crouch (hold Shift) while attacking. The mod offers settings that allow you to change the list of protected creatures or completely disable certain types of protection.
Compatibility with Other Mods
The mod works correctly with pets from other mods. If some modified pet is not protected, this means that the developer of that mod did not define this creature as a tamable pet in the game code.
Configuration Through Data Tags
The mod provides several data pack tags that allow flexible configuration of its operation. Data packs are a powerful tool for game customization available to players, servers, other mods, and mod packs.
- friendlyfire:bypass_pet - tag for items that can ignore pet protection
- friendlyfire:bypass_all - tag for items that ignore all types of protection provided by the mod
- friendlyfire:general_protection - tag for creatures that receive protection from combat damage
An example data pack adds villagers and wandering traders to the list of protected creatures. For convenient work with data packs, it is recommended to use mods like Open Loader that simplify the installation process.
