Friends For Life: The Mod for Those Who Treasure Their Pets in Minecraft

Your faithful friends in Minecraft are no longer in danger! Introducing Friends For Life, a mod that allows you and your tamed pets to stay inseparable, no matter where your journey takes you.

The most reliable way to protect your pet is with a Friendship Collar. Once a pet wears it, they become invulnerable to any damage (excluding the void or creative mode). Even in the extremely unlikely event of its demise, your creature will always be able to return to you, summoned by your call. By sneaking and right-clicking on a block, you set a "home" point for the collar for a future pet.

Perform the ultimate summons with the Ocarina — a magical item capable of teleporting your pet right to your feet, even across dimensions. Set the perfect travel symphony by choosing any of the 17 color options for the ocarina (crafting requires a specific terracotta block)!

To never get lost in the diversity of your furry companions, there’s a special Pet Roster. This is a book that keeps track of all your friends: their location, home point, and other details. You can open it with a convenient keybinding (default: P).

Core Mechanics

The mod introduces three key items: the Collar, the Ocarina, and the Pet Roster. Together they form a comprehensive system for taking care of your friends.

The Friendship Collar

When placed on a pet, the collar makes it a permanent companion — a "Forever Pet", invulnerable to the ordinary dangers of the world. A pet with this status is not only safe but also adds vitality to your base, as it can roam freely around the set "home" point instead of idly sitting in one spot.

The Magical Ocarina

After you bind the ocarina to a specific "Forever Pet" using Shift + RMB, simply playing it will instantly bring your pet to your side. A corresponding gesture will send your pet back to its permanent home, be it the collar point or the default area. Note: it works with only one animal at a time.

The Pet Roster

The Roster is the command center for all your pets. You can see their status, teleport them to you or, conversely, send them to their "home address". Here you can also set a common default home point for all (by sneaking and right-clicking on a block). In the absence of special locations, animals are sent to the player's respawn point (or spawn point as the worst-case scenario).

Compatibility with Other Modifications

The mod is compatible with tameable animals from other addons, although we cannot guarantee 100% success with all existing types of tamed creatures.
