Question: What is Cleanroom?

Cleanroom is a fork of Forge for Minecraft version 1.12.2 that provides updated tooling, new APIs, and almost complete compatibility. Our goal is to keep version 1.12.2 relevant using modern tooling while adding new features both to Forge and the vanilla game, to avoid problems with endless API updates in newer versions.

Question: Are these files suitable for Forge mods? Can they cause crashes?

Yes, you can safely use them! In a Forge environment, this mod simply won't load and won't affect the operation of standard mods.

Question: What Java version is required?

Java 21 or 22 is supported. We plan to develop the project using the latest long-term support versions of Java.
