Ghost Gear Minecraft Mod
With the Ghost Gear mod, you can embark on your very own paranormal journey! This mod introduces new gadgets to Minecraft that will assist you on this exciting path.
Spirit Box
This enigmatic device picks up random whispers from the other side. When placed in your world, it will periodically say various words—offering chilling hints or meaningless remarks. Right-clicking the block allows you to adjust the word frequency or switch the dictionary of terms.
The Spirit Box currently offers three operational modes.
- Words - A selection of over 2,000 words. This list includes item names, locations, colors, names, actions, food, and much more. It is based on commonly used expressions without a strong emphasis on scary or creepy terms.
- Answers - A short set of responses to "yes or no" style questions. This includes options like "yes," "no," "maybe," "always," "never," "sometimes," and "try again." It functions similarly to a magic 8-ball.
- Alphanumeric - This dictionary only contains the 26 letters of the alphabet, various numbers, and related terms such as "hundred," "thousand," and "dozen."
The block also has five scanning levels.
- Rapid - Updates every 5 seconds.
- Frequent - Updates every 10 seconds.
- Steady - Updates every 15 seconds.
- Infrequent - Updates every 30 seconds.
- Occasional - Updates once a minute.

The Spirit Box interacts with the background noise of your game world, utilizing subtle variations in Minecraft's random number generator to select words. Paranormal researchers believe this digital randomness reflects attempts by unseen entities to communicate through probability itself. The block analyzes this "noise" using an algorithm to choose words from a predefined set. The Spirit Box is intended solely for entertainment purposes.
Can you truly communicate with the other side using this device? Definitive evidence is still lacking, but a few unusual occurrences happened during development. The initial prototype merely spoke random words without any mode or speed controls. I left it running in the background while coding other features, and it often felt like something was trying to guide me. If I made a typo or opened the wrong file, the device would say things like "this is wrong," "be careful," or "look out." It was as if the box itself wanted to be completed. The strangest moment occurred later when it said "kitchen" three times in a row—a near statistical impossibility. I went to our kitchen and found that some food my husband was cooking had started to burn.
