Great Big World: A New Era of Modding

The "Great Big World" project has undergone significant changes! The developer decided to completely rethink the approach to creating the gaming experience. Instead of simply adding new elements to the vanilla game, it's now a complete overhaul of Minecraft, creating an alternative timeline. The updated version of the mod is available on Modrinth and will gradually incorporate all the best features of the previous version.

What Was in Previous Versions

Early mod releases added many interesting features:

Update 1.0

Aspen Forests - cold biomes spawning near taigas and regular forests, including snowy variants near snowy taigas.

Moose - new tamable mobs with aggressive temperament that become excellent combat companions after taming and a rich source of meat.

Glimmering Mushrooms - cave and taiga mushrooms that change color and light level depending on the time of day. They can be brewed into potions of darkness, blindness, and glowing, and can also create aura potions.

Mahogany Trees - tropical trees adding diversity to jungles.

Bamboo Torches - torch variants that can be placed on foliage, perfect for natural-looking builds.

Update 1.1

Swamp Pyramids - ancient structures in mangrove swamps, guarded by thickets and traps.

Thickets - new monsters that activate when approached.

Wooden Masks - helmets with unique enchantments instead of respiration and aqua affinity.

Cobblestone Bricks - decorative blocks for building swamp pyramids, crafted from 4 cobblestone.

Update 1.2

Lighthouses - new structures on stony shores with stained calcite and valuable items.

Tropical Islands - rare island biomes replacing mushroom islands in warm regions, including beaches, jungles, volcanic peaks, and mangrove swamps.

Acai Trees - new trees in jungles and swamps with acai berries on trunks.

Nautilus - timid ocean creatures that drop nautilus shells and speed up copper oxidation when transported in a bucket.

Beachgrass - new vegetation on beaches.

Thatch - highly flammable decorative block made from beachgrass, regular grass, or bamboo.
