Resource pack creators frequently use mods like Optifine or Continuity to alter block textures based on their custom names. For example, in the xali's Enhanced Vanilla pack, barrels display different visual variants depending on the names assigned to them.

However, this feature doesn't work properly in multiplayer environments by default. When a player rejoins the server or another participant enters the world, the server fails to communicate the container's custom name to the client. This mod effectively resolves this issue.
