KokoaLinux-Retro - Text Input Support for Linux in Older Minecraft Versions
The issue was that in Minecraft versions prior to 1.13, the lwjgl library had a problem - it blocked the operation of text input systems (IME) like fcitx and ibus. This created significant inconvenience for players from Asian countries who were accustomed to writing in their native languages using such tools.
There was a mod called KokoaLinux that addressed this issue, but it only worked in newer versions of the game. KokoaLinux-Retro is a reworked version adapted for early editions of Minecraft, including 1.12.x.
Key benefits of this modification:
- Adapted for older Minecraft versions
- Improves compatibility with text input systems
- The version for 1.12 is protected from crashes on non-Linux systems
Now Asian players using Linux can safely type messages directly in the game chat instead of copying them from a separate editor.
