Merchant Markers [Fabric]

Have you ever been confused about what different villager professions look like? Would you like to quickly find specific merchants in your village?

Merchant Markers solves this problem in the most convenient way.

Marker example

This modification adds special indicators above villagers' heads that make them noticeable and easy to find. Numerous appearance customization options are available, with development considering use in modpacks. Full support for custom professions from other modifications and integration with Xaero minimap for a more cohesive gaming experience!

Compatibility

The mod is fully client-side.

Settings

The configuration file offers various options for personalizing marker display. You can configure visibility through walls, display of arrows under indicators, maximum visibility distance. Also available are four icon types:

  • Custom — unique hand-drawn icons for each profession (for modified professions can be added via resource packs)

Custom icons are supported via resource packs or mods — just name the PNG file the same as the profession name (for example, armorer.png) and place in the "assets/merchantmarkers/textures/entity/villager/markers/" folder. Note that the profession name must match the internal name in the mod, so if the image doesn't work, you might want to check with the mod author or look in the source code for the correct icon name.

  • Items — use icons of items associated with the profession. For example, iron chestplate for armorers, etc. Associated items can also be reconfigured.

  • Jobs — displays the texture of the profession's work block. These settings cannot be changed but automatically support modified professions.

  • Generic — shows the same general "merchant" icon for all villagers with a profession (this icon can be changed via resource packs).

There is also a profession blacklist, default including "none" and "nitwit", so markers are displayed only for villagers with trades. Finally, there are five options for the "overlay" — a small icon in the lower right corner of the marker: backpack, emerald, coin stack, bag, or no overlay.

Compatibility with other mods

The mod fully supports custom villager professions from other modifications, including custom icons when corresponding resource packs are available. Also supports displaying markers on Xaero's Minimap, FTB Chunks and JourneyMap instead of standard villager head icons.
