No Friendly Fire (Updated)

A simple yet extremely useful mod that solves a common problem for players — it prevents accidental damage to your pets. This makes the game significantly more comfortable, especially in tense situations where you might mistakenly hit your loyal companion.

If you actually need to eliminate a pet, that option remains available. Simply hold the crouch key (Shift by default) while attacking — in this case, damage will be dealt as usual. Without crouching, the attack is automatically blocked, and an on-screen prompt will appear explaining the cancellation mechanics.

The mod is compatible with virtually all tamed creatures, whether they're vanilla or added by other modifications. The main requirement is that the mob is registered as tamed and the system recognizes you as its owner.

Starting from version 1.1, there's an additional setting in the configuration file. With it, you can enable protection for pets against accidental damage from other players who aren't their owners. However, if they want to intentionally harm the animal, they'll also need to crouch while attacking.
