Old Guns Mod
Adds to Minecraft a collection of black powder firearms and artillery from the mid-15th to early 19th century period, allowing you to reliably defend your homestead!
Main Features
Firearm system includes several technological levels: matchlock, wheellock, flintlock, caplock, and needlefire mechanisms. Available weapon types include derringers, pistols, carbines, muskets, and blunderbusses.
Artillery systems allow creating naval guns, field cannons, rocket launchers, and other ancient artillery pieces.
Usage Features
Most firearms are reloaded through the crafting menu. Aiming and firing are similar to using a bow in Minecraft.
Multi-barreled weapons require pre-loading but then allow intensive firing. Some models like the Duckfoot pistol and Nock Gun fire all barrels simultaneously, but each barrel must be reloaded individually.
Breech-loading weapons reload similarly to crossbows, automatically consuming ammunition and powder from the player's inventory.
Weapon Classification
Light firearms (pistols) can be dual-wielded, have fast draw time and low cost, but lack stopping power compared to larger models.
Medium models (carbines) provide optimal balance between draw speed, cost, and power, but don't support dual-wielding.
Large-caliber weapons have devastating power but require long preparation time and significant production costs. Particularly large specimens may slow player movement.
Weather Conditions Impact
The lock type determines weapon resistance to environmental conditions:
- Matchlock mechanisms completely fail in rain and when submerged in water
- Wheellock mechanisms are less sensitive to rain but also don't work in water
- Flintlock mechanisms function with difficulty in rain and don't work in water
- Caplock mechanisms fire without problems in rain and partially work in water
- Needlefire mechanisms function in all conditions
Maintenance
All weapons have a condition indicator based on their durability. Weapons in fair condition or worse have a chance of misfiring. Specimens in poor condition or worse may explode in hands when used. For weapon repair and maintenance, you can use repair kits or parts from disassembled firearms.
Exotic Weapons
Non-standard weapon types like the Duckfoot pistol, musketoons, Nock guns, and other variants are considered exotic weapons. Blueprints for certain parts and weapon types must be found in dungeons, shipwrecks, and villages. In mod settings, you can disable the appearance of exotic weapon blueprints in dungeon loot.
In-game Documentation
In-game documentation is available through the Patchouli mod (required dependency) and JEI.
