Ores Above Diamonds
New Challenges for Experienced Miners
Do you think obtaining a full set of diamond armor is too easy and quick? Then this mod is made specifically for you! Ores Above Diamonds adds two new rare ores to the game that will become a real challenge for the most persistent players.
Amethyst - The First Step Beyond Diamonds
Amethyst ore generates below Y level 8 (in versions before 1.17 - below Y:16) and requires a diamond-level pickaxe or higher for mining. This ore is 3 times rarer than diamonds but offers significant advantages:
- Efficiency: +50% compared to diamond
- Durability: 1.75 times more than diamond
- Attack damage: +1 compared to diamond
- Enchantability: +25 compared to diamond
- Toughness: +1 per armor piece
- Full set: 80 + 4% damage reduction
A full set of amethyst armor provides up to 25% more protection compared to diamond armor.
Black Opal - The Pinnacle of Mastery
Black Opal is a true legend among ores. It generates below Y level 0 (in versions before 1.17 - below Y:16) and requires an amethyst pickaxe or better for mining. This ore is 9 times rarer than diamonds, but its characteristics are impressive:
- Efficiency: +100% compared to diamond
- Durability: 3.5 times more than diamond
- Attack damage: +2 compared to diamond
- Enchantability: +5 compared to diamond
- Toughness: +2 per armor piece
- Full set: 80 + 8% damage reduction
A full set of opal armor provides up to 60% more protection compared to diamond armor.
Upgrade to Netherite Opal
In versions 1.16+, black opal can be upgraded to netherite variant by adding a netherite ingot to a smithing table. The upgrade provides:
- +1 attack damage
- +20% efficiency and durability
- +1 toughness
- +1 knockback resistance
- +5 enchantability
Flexible Generation Settings
Both ores can be configured to generate in the Nether and the End through the configuration file. All ore parameters are fully customizable, allowing you to perfectly integrate them into your gaming experience.
Important Information
When adding the mod to an existing world, new ores will only appear in freshly generated chunks. To find them, you'll need to venture into unexplored territories.
Armor may visually display only 10 full protection bars, even if it actually provides greater damage reduction. For some versions, the Overloaded Armor Bar mod is available to fix this display.
