Parrying Shield
This modification introduces a completely new type of shield called Buckler into the game. Unlike traditional shields used for blocking attacks, this item is designed for parrying enemy strikes.
The core mechanic involves using the Buckler right before an enemy's attack lands. When successfully parrying a melee attack, the enemy becomes stunned and slowed for 3 seconds (effect similar to a high level Bane of Arthropods enchantment). When dealing with projectiles, parrying functions like regular blocking. This ability has a cooldown of 1 second.
Crafting the Buckler requires minimal resources: 1 block of planks and 4 units of leather. The shield's durability is 224 units, with wear occurring only when parrying attacks that deal 3 or more damage. Repair is done on an anvil using planks.
Although the Buckler requires precise timing for successful parrying and is considered difficult to master, it demonstrates outstanding effectiveness against single opponents and axe users, who typically easily break through standard shields.
For mod developers, integration is provided through entity tags "buckler_parry_effect" and "buckler_parry_cooldown". Mobs will perform parrying if the first value exceeds 0 (decreases by 1 after each parry). The second tag is set to 60 after each parry (optional, corresponds to the duration of the slowness effect in ticks).
