Pingspam
Finally, you can get the attention of those who are constantly away from the computer, switching to other tabs, ignoring chat, or are completely offline!
The Pingspam mod adds a player mention system to Minecraft chat, similar to the one used in Discord. You can mention a specific person by name (for example, "@GreatGrayOwl") or an entire group of users.
When you are mentioned, the message in chat is highlighted, a special sound is played, and a notification appears on the action bar that will be displayed until you close it. What's especially convenient is that these notifications persist even after relogging to the server, and can only be removed using the /notifications
command.
Compatibility and additional features
Pingspam works with regular Minecraft clients - other players don't need to install this mod to receive your mentions. However, if they do install Pingspam, they'll get autocompletion of names when typing @mentions in chat.
Personalization and groups
You can create shorter or more descriptive pseudonyms that other players can use to mention you. The command /pingspam alias add <alias>
adds a new alias, /pingspam alias remove <alias>
removes it, and /pingspam alias list
shows all your current pseudonyms.
Each player can have up to 10 additional aliases besides their main name. Server administrators can also create player groups, allowing you to mention multiple people at once - for example, all @redstoners.
Ignoring and sounds
If some player mentions you too persistently, you can add them to the blacklist using the command /pingspam ignore add <player>
. You can view the current ignore list via /pingspam ignore list
, and remove someone from it via /pingspam ignore remove <player>
.
You can also customize notification sounds. The command /pingspam sound <sound_id>
changes the alert sound, and /pingspam sound none
completely disables sound notifications. By default, the bell sound is used: minecraft:block.bell.use
.
