Prospects

This mod introduces special items and world elements to Minecraft that enable players to locate ore and mineral deposits. Everything is implemented in a highly organic way: you may encounter flowers marking large deposits or use prospecting tools that reveal what lies beneath the ground right under your feet.

The mod's particularity lies in its limited effectiveness with vanilla ore generation. Since ores are evenly distributed, you'll mostly find iron nuggets and occasionally gold ones. Therefore, Prospects is designed for use with mods and modpacks where ores generate in large but sparse clusters.

Originally, this project was called "Prospecting" and created by Azathoth. The author released the code into the public domain and indicated no plans to update the mod beyond version 1.7.10. As a result, I took this code, ported it to newer versions, and completely reworked significant portions while learning the modding process. The original commits are preserved in the repository as recognition of Azathoth's work, and the code remains in the public domain.

The original mod was also heavily influenced by Draco18s' Reasonable Realism mod series, particularly Ore Flowers. The flower textures from that mod are used in Prospects with the author's permission.
