Riddle Chests

Inspired by Classic

This mod is created as a tribute to the legendary role-playing game "Betrayal at Krondor". In that game, there were unique chests with letter combination locks that could only be opened by solving a riddle written on them. It is this exciting mechanic that we have brought to the Minecraft world.

How Mysterious Chests Work

During world generation, regular loot chests can be replaced with mysterious versions. The probability of such replacement can be configured in the mod's settings. No additional chests are added to the world.

To open such a chest, the player must solve a puzzle. The lock has letters, and the chest itself bears a riddle - the correct answer is the combination for opening. Inside, valuable items and equipment await you.

Flexible Configuration

If you want to keep certain chests in their original form, use the loottableBlacklist option in the settings. Simply specify the names of loot tables that should not be replaced, for example: minecraft:chests/spawn_bonus_chest.

Expandability

The system is easily expandable with additional riddles, quizzes, and questions. In the datapacks folder, you'll find many ready-made categories. To add your own content:

• Install the Open Loader mod
• Create the <minecraft-instance>/openloader/data folder (or run the game for automatic creation)
• Copy datapack archives to this folder
