Introduction

Shared Resource Packs is a lightweight modification designed to optimize resource pack usage across multiple Minecraft installations. Instead of having duplicate packs on disk for each game instance, this mod lets you share them from a common location accessible to all installations.

Primary Purpose and Benefits

Suppose you have three different Minecraft setups, all using the same resource packs—custom textures, sound revamps, etc. Without this tool, you would store three identical copies, consuming extra disk space. With Shared Resource Packs, you point each installation to a central folder with the needed packs, effectively using disk space for each pack only once.

The mod uses a configurable location list. By default, packs are loaded from "user directory"\Shared Resource Packs, but custom paths can be added in the configuration file. You can also list individual resource pack ZIP files.

Configuration Guide

Configuration is performed via a text file at config\Shared Resource Packs.txt in your Minecraft folder. Each line should either point to a directory containing resource packs, or an exact path to a specific resource pack ZIP file. Lines starting with a # character are ignored as comments.

Note: both absolute and relative paths can be used, but full paths are recommended for reliable cross-instance sharing. The mod only loads packs in formats recognized by Minecraft.
