Stuff A Sock In It

This mod allows you to configure filters for the Minecraft game logger. With it, you can hide specific messages that are typically displayed in the console or written to log files. The main purpose of the mod is for use in modpacks to remove redundant information and non-essential entries, making logs more compact and simplifying the search for actual errors and issues. In some cases, this can also slightly speed up game loading.

Filter Types

The mod supports two types of filters:

  • Basic filters - hide messages containing the specified string. For example, a filter for "hello" will block the output of the message "hello world".
  • Regular expressions - allow using complex patterns to filter messages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Is this a core mod? Answer: No, starting with versions for Minecraft 1.12 and above, the mod does not use Forge's core mod system, although earlier versions required this for early loading.

Question: Is it dangerous to remove information from logs? Answer: It all depends on the context. The mod is not intended to hide actual errors. It should be used to filter redundant debug messages that some mods (including Forge itself) output in large quantities. For example, removing all messages with the word "null" is a bad idea, while hiding unnecessary Roman numerals from some mod is useful.

Question: What is removed by default? Answer: By default, the mod doesn't filter anything. To configure it, you need to modify the configuration file /config/sasit.cfg.
