Important Version Information

This page is for the Minecraft 1.7.10 (Legacy) version of the mod, which no longer receives major updates. Renewed is an actively developed version for modern Minecraft versions with complete system rewrites and many new features.

Main development will continue after Renewed is completed. Meanwhile, the Legacy version is maintained with bug fixes and minor improvements. Despite this, Legacy remains fully playable with an active community.

About the Mod

The Lord of the Rings Mod is a massive expansion for Minecraft that brings the world of Middle-earth from J.R.R. Tolkien's works into the game. The mod includes content from "The Lord of the Rings," "The Hobbit," and other related stories.

Development has been ongoing since 2012, with many planned features still to come. New updates will arrive after the Renewed port is completed.

• Over 100 new biomes, sub-biomes, and variants with unique structures and resources
• Biome generation following Tolkien's map
• Mysterious lands of Rhûn and Harad
• Ancient Pits of Utumno — terrifying dungeon dimension with Morgoth's creatures

• Reputation system where your actions affect relations with various factions
• New gameplay mechanics dependent on reputation: trading, unit hiring, and expanded achievement system

• Full multiplayer integration

Technical Requirements

Current version Update 36.15 requires Minecraft Forge version 1558 or higher.

The mod includes version checking.

Experiencing chunk-loading lag in Middle-earth? Install FastCraft to fix this and other performance issues!
