Tracks - Creating Natural Pathways

Tracks is a compact Fabric mod that automatically generates realistic walking paths in Minecraft. As players repeatedly traverse grass blocks, they gradually transform into worn trails, creating an organic network of routes.

How the Block Wear System Works

Each time you step on a grass block or existing path, a special counter increments. After reaching a set number of steps, grass converts to a dirt path, and dirt paths become packed dirt pathways.

Progress Tracking

You can look at any grass block or path within a 5-block radius to see the current step count for that specific block. This allows you to monitor how close the block is to its next transformation stage.

Flexible Settings

The mod offers several useful commands for personalizing gameplay:

/tracks walktoggle — toggles the display of step counters on blocks

/tracks sneaktoggle — enables a mode where sneaking movement doesn't increase the step counter

Customizable Parameters

You can edit the config/tracks_config.json file to change the number of steps required for each block transformation. This allows you to adjust the speed of path formation according to your preferences.
