Upgradeable Iron Golems

Now you can craft upgrades for iron golems that unlock new abilities or enhance their stats. All crafting recipes can be found in the image gallery. Each upgrade is for single use, and every golem can only accept one of each upgrade type. After successful application, the iron golem glows for a few seconds. In survival mode, upgrades cannot be removed or retrieved. If you simply drop any upgrade on the ground, it will lose its properties.

Purpose

This datapack was created to give iron golems more functions beyond their use in iron farms. It also helps combat enhanced mobs from my "Hostile Mobs Improve Over time" datapack, which can be found on my page.

Commands

Any player can use the /trigger showIronGolem command to learn about installed upgrades on the nearest iron golem. If you want to get all items without spending time crafting, use /function upgirongolems:give_all_upgrades.

Upgrades

Health Upgrades

• Throw an iron nugget at an iron golem to put it into iron ingot consumption mode. For each ingot, it receives +1 health (half a heart). The golem only accepts single iron ingots (if the player is close enough, hold Q to quickly throw ingots without them accumulating on the ground).
• Stops accepting ingots when reaching 200 health (signaled by glowing).
• When upgrading, only maximum health increases, so the golem needs to be healed for changes to take effect. This also means it may sustain damage after upgrading if not healed.

Glow Transmitter

Throw at an iron golem to use. Makes the golem highlight all raid mobs within a 24-block radius.

Golem Battery

Throw at an iron golem to use. Allows it to regenerate health when standing on redstone blocks (regeneration III).

Sculk Remover

Throw at an iron golem to use. Makes it destroy all sculk-related blocks around itself, dropping all experience orbs. Great for clearing ancient cities.

Iron Fist

Throw at an iron golem to use. The iron golem gains strength V and increased attack knockback (the change in knockback is almost unnoticeable).

Shield-field Star

Throw at an iron golem to use. Gives all players and villagers (including wandering traders) resistance II within a 12-block radius. There is a 25% chance that the nether star used in the recipe will be returned after use on an iron golem.

Turtle Plate

Throw at an iron golem to use. Gives the golem 15 armor points.
