Workings

Workings is a Minecraft modification created for the ModFest 1.17 competition from June 18th to July 4th. The mod focuses on construction themes and works with the Fabric modloader. It adds 22 blocks and 2 items with survival-friendly recipes.

Feature Overview

Pipes

Blocks of iron and copper pipes are crafted from individual pipes, which also function as lightning rods.

The block recipes don't require specific ingredient arrangement.

Barriers

Decorative highway barriers that function like fences.

The Jersey Wall can also be crafted in a stonecutter - one pavement block becomes one Jersey Wall.

Traffic Cones

Traffic Lights

Traffic lights orient based on the player's placement direction and can be toggled using redstone.

Automatic traffic lights also orient based on player direction. Their speed can be changed using sugar or fermented spider eyes. Each click adds or removes 20% of the current speed, with nine total speed combinations available. When receiving a redstone signal, automatic traffic lights freeze in place.

Traffic light recipes:

Green dye and candles can be substituted with lime dye and candles respectively. Traffic lights can also be crafted from an automatic traffic light and three coal without specific order.

Automatic traffic light recipe:

Green dye can be substituted with lime dye. Automatic traffic lights can also be crafted from a regular traffic light and three redstone without specific order.

Road Signs

Decorative road signs.

Sign recipes:

Wool can be substituted with concrete or terracotta. For shovel and flag signs, any shovels and banners work, including those added by other mods.

Blocks

Block of sticks - decorative block with 3000 burn time.

Pallets - currently decorative blocks only:

Pavement block and asphalt block. Pavement is used for crafting Jersey Walls and Highway Barriers. Asphalt gives players and mobs Speed II effect when standing on it.

Crafting recipes:

For pavement, any type of sand and cobblestone (blackstone, cobbled deepslate, etc.) work, including those added by other mods.

Items

Bundle of sticks

Bundles of sticks are used for crafting blocks of sticks. They burn for 1000 ticks and can be used for bulk torch crafting.

Copper nugget

Copper nuggets are used for crafting pipes. One copper ingot equals nine nuggets. Nuggets can also be obtained by smelting any copper blocks and items from vanilla Minecraft or Workings mod.

Known Issues

• Highway Barrier texture has Z-fighting issues when connected to both X and Z axes.
• Asphalt was creative-only. I hadn't decided on a recipe yet. In version 1.0.2, asphalt got a recipe and gives Speed II effect when standing on it.
• Pallets had no drops, I couldn't get the loot table to accept multiple block states (PRs welcome!). Fixed in version 1.0.5
