Zaynen's Mimic Game Piece Mod

This modification represents my first foray into creating game pieces for tabletop role-playing games!

Implemented as a unique block, this object visually resembles a classic mimic. Such a find will become indispensable for enthusiasts who prefer to host Dungeons & Dragons and other TTRPG sessions directly within Minecraft's virtual world.

Important features for different versions:

Version 1.12.2
The capabilities of this release are limited exclusively to Creative Mode. This is due to technical limitations of the game version itself and available modding tools. To obtain the mimic, open the "Miscellaneous" tab in the creative inventory menu.

Versions 1.14.4 through 1.20.1
Starting with these releases, obtaining the mimic becomes available in Survival Mode as well. For crafting, simply use a stonecutter and apply wool of absolutely any color.

Implementation Features
As my first experience creating such modifications, this project became a true challenge for me. During development, some technical nuances of item creation through the modding system were identified.


Initially, plans included using both wool and concrete of various colors for crafting. However, during testing, it was discovered that the "any color concrete" functionality works incorrectly - exclusively with white concrete. This bug persisted from version 1.14.4 through release 1.19.2.

In version 1.19.4, the problematic concrete functionality was finally removed, and in 1.20.1, I completely excluded concrete recipes from the project, leaving only the reliable wool option.


It's important to note that initially the mimic was only available in Creative Mode. Thanks to community suggestions, starting with version "v2", the ability to obtain this object in Survival through the crafting system appeared. This principle will be applied to future game pieces I plan to create.

Stonecutter + Any concrete White concrete = 1 mimic

Stonecutter + Any single-colored wool = 1 mimic
