C418 Music Pack

C418 Music Pack is a lightweight resource pack that fundamentally refreshes Minecraft's musical experience by bringing back the unjustly forgotten compositions by C418 from the Volume Alpha and Volume Beta albums. This pack removes music added in updates following the Nether Update and seamlessly expands the original soundtrack while remaining faithful to the game's gameplay and history.

With the Nether Update, the game received impressive musical accompaniment, which raised expectations for future development. However, the new tracks quickly became repetitive — they could be constantly heard in menus and exclusively in new biomes.

It turned out this was part of the plan. The original soundtrack is gradually being replaced by music for which Microsoft holds exclusive rights, even though C418 has many compositions specifically written for Minecraft that never made it into official game versions. Now their time has come!

Compatibility

Resource Packs

C418 Music Pack does not guarantee compatibility with other resource packs that completely replace music through their own sounds.json file. Processing priority is determined by position in the resource pack list.

It is recommended to use only one music resource pack at a time. For joint use with packs that add music to the vanilla soundtrack, place C418 Music Pack below them in the list.

Mods

• Mods with built-in resource packs — treat as regular resource packs
• Content mods — usually add their own music through separate sound events, so there should be no problems
• Start the Music! and More Music — compatible
• Music Sync — compatibility not confirmed, but the pack complies with standards
• Playlist — may conflict as it undoes music removal from C418 Music Pack

Bedrock Edition

Due to technical differences, the Bedrock version is not supported.

Notes

Each version goes through different testing levels:

• Release — recommended version, no known issues
• Beta — undergoing testing, main functions work
• Alpha — in development, errors possible

The project is created with respect for the work of modern Minecraft composers, but their tracks mostly replace the original soundtrack rather than complement it.

In accordance with C418's music usage policy, new versions are protected from extraction, but the project structure is available on GitHub for creating custom add-ons.
