Overview

Presented here is the British Rail InterCity 225 — a new generation high-speed electric train that began service on the UK's eastern main line from 1989 to 1991. This train consists of a comprehensive system including a Class 91 electric locomotive, nine Mark 4 passenger coaches, and a Driving Van Trailer (DVT). The locomotive was manufactured by BREL at their Crewe facility, while the Mark 4 coaches and DVT were produced by Metro-Cammell in Birmingham and Breda in Italy.

Technically capable of reaching speeds up to 225 km/h, the train is typically limited to 201 km/h in regular service due to signaling system constraints and railway infrastructure limitations. The Class 91 develops approximately 4.7 megawatts (6150 horsepower) at the rails. A historic achievement occurred on September 17, 1989, when unit number 91010 attained a speed of 161.7 miles per hour, setting the record for Britain's fastest electric locomotive.

The standard configuration features a locomotive at the northern end, nine Mark 4 coaches (with seating across different service classes), and a driving van trailer at the London end. Total passenger capacity reaches 535 seats: 406 in standard class and 129 in first class.

InterCity 225 in Minecraft (MTR mod)

This resource pack introduces the InterCity 225 train into Minecraft's railway building system through the Minecraft Transit Railway mod. The original model was created by user cw_315 for the game Transport Fever 2, with Minecraft porting handled by Vitor2005 in 2025. The resource pack maintains compatibility with both MTR3 and MTR4 versions.
